Under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, the Government of India aims to establish the National Green Hydrogen Mission and Green Ammonia Fueling Centers at all the major ports of the country within the next two decades. National Green Hydrogen Mission

The National Green Hydrogen Mission, which has been flagged off today by the country’s Prime Minister Modi ji, has as its main goal to achieve self-reliance in energy in the country by the year 2047. Under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, green hydrogen bunkers will be built by the year 2035. A refueling facility will be established under this mission by providing facilities like an ammonia bunker. 

It was also clarified that the biggest goal of the National Green Hydrogen Mission is to develop infrastructure for hydrogen bunkering at Deendayal Pardeep and Chidambaranar ports in the country. Let us tell you that the Green Hydrogen Mission was approved on January 4, 2023, after which the blueprint for this ambitious plan was prepared on January 13.

National Green Hydrogen Mission Intended Objectives 

The main objective of National Green Hydrogen is to come forward as a producer and supplier. Reduction in dependence on fossil fuels and feedstock coming from outside. The outcomes of the mission are to support research and development projects as per the National Green Hydrogen Mission’s intended objectives. Supporting employment and economic development projects. 

One of the goals of the National Green Hydrogen Mission is to provide opportunities for employment and economic development. Its objective is to develop indigenous manufacturing capabilities. Reduction in annual greenhouse gas emissions by about 50 MMT. Creation of more than 6 lakh jobs and the possibility of foreign investment worth eight lakh crores.

If the expected results of the mission are achieved by the year 2030, then such results may emerge under the National Green Hydrogen Mission UPSC, in which India’s green hydrogen production capacity is likely to reach 5 MT per year. 

That is, how can we assume that there will be a reduction in fossil fuel imports worth Rs 1 lakh crore? It is also expected to prevent about 50 MMT of carbon dioxide emissions per year, provided there is a balance between the production and use of the targeted amount of green hydrogen.

National Hydrogen Energy Mission

In the meeting of the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the proposal for the National Hydrogen Energy Mission was approved. It was learned that the initial expenditure for this mission will be Rs 19744 crore, of which Rs 17490 crore will be for the site program. Rs 1466 crore has been included for pilot projects, Rs 400 crore for research and development, and Rs 388 crore for other mission components. 

It is being said that under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, all the concerned ministries, departments, agencies, and institutions of the Central and State governments will take coordinated steps to fulfill the objectives of the mission.
